The Algerian airline Tassili Airlines (TAL) is in discussion with the authorities in Houston, Texas, with the support of the Algerian-American Business Council (USABC), for a possible charter service from Hassi Messaoud to Houston, said Ismael Chikhoune, USABC President, in Algiers on Wednesday.

A feasibility study will be launched by TAL and the Houston authorities to identify the profitability of this service for the transportation of oilfield personnel and cargo, said Chikhoune. The study will conclude in September 2018 with a presentation in the United States on the culture and economy of Algeria.

According to Chikhoune, the USABC has already contacted the Houston authorities (airport and city), who have expressed their interest in discussing the project with Tassili Airlines.

This charter service would be "a good opportunity to work with Tassili Airlines to provide cargo flights for Algerian goods destined for the United States," he said.
