Hanoi, September 8, 2023 – Vietnam Airlines will commence its nonstop service to Perth (Australia) on December 7, 2023. A ceremony took place in Perth on September 1 to announce the new route, with the attendance of Western Australian state leaders, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia, and representatives of the Department of Tourism. The  announcement coincides with the 50th anniversary of Vietnam – Australia diplomatic relations.

Perth services will have the highest frequency with 3 round trips per week, operated by modern, wide-body aircraft Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Flight VN791 departing from Ho Chi Minh will take off at 3:50 p.m on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturday and land in Perth at 11:05 p.m the same day (local time). Flight VN790 departing from Perth will take off at 00:50 on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and land in Ho Chi Minh City at 06:10 the following day. Tickets are available for purchase now.

Passengers will have the opportunity to experience the most seamless and comfortable flying experience during the 6-hour flight on Vietnam Airlines’ flight. Service highlights also include a curated library of audio and programmes on modern personal entertainment system, unique inflight menu, infused with rich Vietnamese flavors and most recently a wider selection of Vietnamese coffee onboard.

Western Australia Premier Roger Cook said: “Securing this new direct flight between Vietnam and Perth opens up an abundance  of opportunities between the two countries and represents a whole new inbound visitor market for Western Australia’s industry, tourism and hospitality sectors- supporting jobs and boosting the economy. Today’s announcement further cements out important airlinks within the South East Asia region, who we have a strong relationship and track record with, and my Government is very proud of this progress and the growing opportunities in the future.”

Perth is the capital and largest city of Western Australia, also one of Australia's most flourishing business, cultural, and commercial centers, with about 300,000 Vietnamese people living and working here. Before Covid, Vietnam was Perth's 10th largest international market and the second largest market without direct flights from Perth. Meanwhile, Perth is the third largest market in Australia for Vietnam.

With the new nonstop Ho Chi Minh City - Perth route, Vietnam Airlines will be operating 23 round-trip flights per week between Vietnam and Australia, meaning an average of 3 flights per day, continuing to be the leading airline with highest frequency on direct flights between the two countries. Vietnam Airlines will serve a total of 5 nonstop services to Australia including: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city – Melbourne; Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City – Sydney and Ho Chi Minh City – Perth. All flights are operated by modern wide-body aircraft Airbus A350 or Boeing 787.

On this occasion, Vietnam Airlines launched special fares on round-trip flights from Ho Chi Minh to Perth only from 465 USD (equivalent to 11,278,000 VND) including taxes and fees. Promotion applies to tickets purchased in Vietnam from now until November 15, 2023, with departure time from December 7 to December 31, 2023. Customers can buy tickets at ticket offices, agents, Vietnam Airlines website and mobile application. Ticket prices may vary depending on flight availability and exchange rate at the time of ticket issuance.
