The Air Current, a leading voice in commercial aviation journalism, proudly launches its first major expansion with the addition of Courtney Miller who will serve as the publication’s managing director of analysis. Miller will head up new product development and be a regular columnist on The Air Current as part of its industry-leading reporting.
Expanding The Air Current into this new lane enables two different types of compelling, actionable and complementary insight to live independently side-by-side. Miller’s analysis and journalism from TAC Editor-in-chief, Jon Ostrower will inform the other as TAC adopts a platform approach to deliver leading industry coverage — and now analysis — on the strategy and technology of aviation. This is the heart of what The Air Current is about.
Miller’s first column on The Air Current - a visual analysis on the impact of the coronavirus and historical context after the SARS outbreak in 2002 — is now available. TAC will share more in the coming weeks on its new products.
In a very short period of time, The Air Current has established itself as a leading voice globally in the coverage of civil aviation. “The first 18 months of operations at The Air Current have built a solid foundation on which to grow our future,” said Ostrower. “Courtney joining TAC is central to our commitment to invest in expertise and build an indispensable resource for the aviation and aerospace community. This is even more necessary as the industry works to make sense of the tumultuous landscape. Facts, data and context have always mattered and their necessity in 2020 is greater than ever.”
Miller joins The Air Current after 11-years with Bombardier Aerospace, most recently serving as director, North America sales for the company’s commercial aircraft line. Prior to that role he led airline marketing and analysis at Bombardier for airlines in North and South America and the community of global aircraft lessors. His expertise, which spans everything from strategic analysis and data visualization to aircraft finance and operations, brings a wealth of opportunities to grow both the scope and depth of The Air Current’s industry coverage.
Miller also cultivated a loyal online following through his writings at Visual Approach, where he merged industry history and analysis with insightful and beautiful data visualization to illustrate contemporary trends.
Miller is a 3,000-hour airline pilot with ratings in the Bombardier CRJ family and Beechjet 400A. He began his career flying for U.S. regional airline Comair. He holds a Masters of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a dual specialization with aviation operations and management and a Bachelors of Science in Aviation Technology from Purdue University. Miller will be based in Dallas, Texas Metroplex where he lives with his wife and two children.
