12 September 2018 – today the Nordic low-fare airline announced the start of sales for routes from Madrid to the United States and Canada.
Flights will be operated from Madrid Barajas International Airport (MAD) to New York (EWR), Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and tickets are already available for a special introduction price of €149 one-way.
“Having operated routes between Northern Europe and Spain for quite some time now, we are thrilled to bring low-fare transatlantic flights to Madrid. We see strong and growing demand for affordable long haul flights, and we believe this will not only provide more opportunities for travelers, but will also bring more North American tourists to Spain”, said Anastasija Visnakova, Primera Air Chief Commercial Officer. “We intend to continue providing the lowest fares available and to keep up our range of travel options, which make it easier for travelers to go to destinations in North America, Europe and more.”
Flights will be operated on brand-new Boeing 737 MAX 9 airliners, and Primera Air has placed an order for 20 aircraft to serve these new routes. Currently Primera Air’s transatlantic fleet consists of 5 brand new Airbus A321neo aircraft, whereas short-haul routes are served with a fleet of 10 Boeing NG737 aircraft.
Primera Air is already operating transatlantic flights from London and Paris to various destinations in the US and Canada, with new transatlantic flight bases in Frankfurt, Berlin and Brussels announced for 2019.
