Norwegian Air Shuttle is now reconsidering its January 2019 decision to close its bases in the Canary Islands. The move was a result of a cost-cutting initiative which included the base in Mallorca.
As the airline now sees potential in the market, due to an ever-changing competitive landscape, it is looking to maintain the bases in Gran Canaria and Tenerife, although no firm decision has been made yet.
Norwegian is awaiting the "right conditions", including cooperation from unions. The decision is expected to benefit the "passengers, employees and shareholders."
