Mexican airline Volaris has established a subsidiary in El Salvador, and also obtained its AOC from the Civil Aviation Authority for the new carrier.

Fly El Salvador, operating as Volaris El Salvador, will become the local flag carrier for the Central American country, with commercial operations set to begin in September 2019.

The new airline unit will be headed by Mauricio Moran Alfaro as CEO, with Jose Antonio Martinez as Operations Manager.

Currently, there are three A319s operating in Central America, including its sister unit, Volaris Costa Rica, with two more aircraft due in 2019.

No word yet on the planned fleet size or official fleet type for the El Salvadorian carrier.
