WOW air, Iceland’s low-cost airline, has today (Monday) announced it will begin operating flights from Dublin to Vancouver, via Reykjavik, beginning next summer, with the inaugural flight on 6 June 2019.

The airline will offer fares from as low as €129.99 one way from Dublin to Vancouver via Reykjavik. WOW air will be the first low-cost, long-haul airline to serve Vancouver from Dublin.

The new route will operate six times weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays and will be serviced by a A321neo.

Departing Dublin at 11:45, Irish passengers can connect to Vancouver after a layover in Reykjavik (approx. 4 hours).

The new route will depart Reykjavik (KEF) at 17:20 and arrive in Vancouver (YVR) at 18:15, with a flight duration of 7 hours and 55 minutes.

Vancouver is best known for its aesthetic landscape, including its snow-capped mountains overlooking the city and the deep blue sea that surrounds its coastline.

The city enjoys great weather all year round, with an average summer high of 22°C. It is also home to the world-renowned Stanley Park. With its nearly 20-mile-long seawall, the park hugs Vancouver's waterfront, while also offering amenities such as the Vancouver Aquarium, which is home to 734 different species.

Commenting today, Svanhvít Fridriksdóttir, Director of Communications at WOW air, said:

“We are delighted to offer our Irish passengers a new and exciting Canadian destination. The addition of Vancouver to our route network reflects our commitment to continually improve our offering for our Irish passengers.

“We know Canada, and in particular Vancouver, is hugely popular among Irish emigrants. We are delighted to be able to offer them a more affordable way to travel, whether that’s coming home to visit friends and family or allowing loved ones to cross the Atlantic and visit relatives in their new homes.”

Vancouver is the third Canadian city to be connected to Dublin, by WOW air, via Reykjavik. The airline currently offers Irish passengers low-cost fares to Toronto and Montreal.

Earlier this year WOW air also announced it would be operating flights from Dublin to Orlando, Florida, via Reykjavik, commencing on 18 December 2018.
