Wizz Air Welcomes Fourth Aircraft To Its London Luton Fleet And Launches The First Low Cost Route To Tirana
Wizz Air, one of Europe's fastest growing airlines and the largest low cost carrier in Central and Eastern Europe, is pleased to announce the arrival of a fourth allocated aircraft to its London Luton fleet. Today also sees the launch of the only low-fare direct flight connecting the United Kingdom and Albania, from London Luton to the Albanian capital, Tirana.
The new Airbus aircraft, one of eight to be deployed at WIZZ’s London Luton base by the end of summer 2018, highlights the company’s continued investment in the UK market, offering passengers even more opportunity to discover unique destinations across Europe capacity on its routes from the UK increasing by 14% in 2018.
The service from London Luton to Tirana begins operations today. Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with fares starting from £55.99*. This year, WIZZ is commencing 8 new routes from London Luton airport, including services to Tallinn, Athens, Reykjavik, Lviv and Larnaca. By the end of 2018, WIZZ will offer a total of 47 destinations to 23 countries from London Luton.
The expansion at London Luton is part of Wizz Air’s biggest operational ramp up in its history, which will see a total of 21 aircraft allocated to its European bases across 17 weeks, supporting 700 additional weekly departures. This impressive growth comes with investment of more than $2 billion at 11 bases in the UK, Austria, Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania and Georgia.
