Wizz Air, the fastest growing airline in Europe and the leading low cost carrier in Central and Eastern Europe, today announced a new route which will be added to the airline’s already extensive Polish network. Bodø, the northernmost point of the beautiful Kystriksveien Coastal Route is the gateway to Norway's true north. Bodø is known as the Sea Eagle Capital as the islands around the city support the world's densest concentration of white-tailed sea eagles. Bodø offers a varied assortment of adventures, like kayaking or golfing under the midnight sun. Take a tour on a fast passenger boat, or fish in the world’s strongest tidal current, or if you like hiking in the stunning nature, there cannot be better trails for you than the ones around the city. Bodø hosts two large music festivals, “Parkenfestivalen” and “Nordland Musikkfestuke”, both attracting thousands of people.

Wizz Air’s first flight took off from Poland in May 2004 and since then, the airline has constantly expanded its operations carrying over 66 million passengers on its low-fare Polish routes. In 2018, over 9 million passengers flew with WIZZ to and from Poland, 14% more than in the previous year. Wizz Air’s Polish operations do not only provide affordable access on WIZZ’s lowest fares between Poland and the rest of Europe and beyond, but also stimulate the local job market in aviation and tourism sectors, supporting more than 8,000 jobs** this year in associated industries throughout the country.

Speaking today at a press conference in Gdansk, Jozsef Varadi, Chief Executive Officer of Wizz Air, said: „Today’s announcement underlines our long term commitment to Poland, our Polish customers and our desire to offer more and more low-cost travel opportunities to our distinguished Polish passengers. We continuously monitor trends and travel demand to best meet the needs of our customers through our low fares and great services. We adding our 146 destination to our network, connecting Gdansk with the beautiful Bodø in Norway. 2019 is a year we are very much looking forward to as we are adding the 7 based aircraft to our Gdansk base, opening our newest base in Krakow this spring and creating all-Airbus A321 fleets both in Warsaw and Krakow increasing Wizz Air’s Polish footprint with greater seat capacity for 2019 on our 160 routes to 28 countries.”
