Wizz Air plans 2019 resumption of its Ukrainian subsidiary
Wizz Air plans to resume operations of the Ukrainian subsidiary, Wizz Air Ukraine, in 2019, pending issuance of its license in the country.
Planned investments in the country by the Hungarian airline include US$2.5 billion to increase the Ukrainian fleet to 20 new A320 and A321 planes.
The aircraft will be based in Kyiv and other airports in Ukraine, helping increase annual passenger numbers to six million by 2025.
Wizz Air Ukraine also expects to create about 6,000 local jobs, both in directly and indirectly.
Wizz Air closed its Ukrainian subsidiary back in 2015, due to turmoil in the east of Ukraine and the devaluation of the hryvnia.
