Wizz Air Expands In Warsaw
Wizz Air, today announced that it will expand its Warsaw operations, basing an 8th aircraft at Chopin Airport. From March 2018 WIZZ will launch one new attractive route to Bordeaux in southwestern France as well as increase weekly frequencies on the most popular services, adding a total of 19 incremental weekly flights to its Warsaw schedule. In 2018, Wizz Air will offer 3.3 million seats on its Warsaw routes, a 25% growth year over year.
The new aircraft, the 4th state-of-the-art Airbus A321ceo in WIZZ’s Warsaw fleet, represents an investment of $116 million* by the airline in Poland. Expanding its operations, Wizz Air creates 42 additional direct jobs and will have a team of over 300 dedicated crew based at Warsaw Chopin Airport.
Warsaw was one of the first cities Wizz Air brought its low fares to in 2004 and since then, the airline carried over 14 million passengers to and from the capital while constantly expanding its network. In the first six months of 2017, more than one million passengers traveled with WIZZ on the airline’s Warsaw routes, 21% more than in the same period of the previous year. With its new Bordeaux route, Wizz Air now connects the Polish capital with 50 destinations across Europe and beyond.
Wizz Air’s commitment to Polish customers is underlined by the strong growth at its other seven Polish airports as well. WIZZ has a total of 9 million seats on sale on its Polish routes in 2017, which represents 16% growth year over year. The airline’s Polish operations do not only provide affordable access at WIZZ’s lowest fares between Poland and the rest of Europe, but also stimulate the local job market in aviation and tourism sectors, supporting more than 5000 jobs** this year in associated industries throughout the country.
With the latest expansion of its Warsaw fleet, Wizz Air will have 23 based aircraft in Poland employing more than 850 customer-oriented crew, who deliver excellent service on each WIZZ flight. Wizz Air now offers 151 routes from its eight Polish airports.
Together with today’s announcement Wizz Air also releases its 2018 summer schedule for Warsaw. For the next two weeks the fares will be exclusively available to WIZZ Discount Club members only, while from 25 July 2017, they will become available to everyone. Tickets for summer 2018 as well as for the new Bordeaux route are already on sale and can be booked from only PLN 129*** on wizzair.com.
