NEW BASED AIRBUS A321 AIRCRAFT, MORE FLIGHTS AND A NEW ROUTE TO FRANCE
Wizz Air, largest airline in Romania and one of Europe’s fastest growing airlines today announced further expansion of its Romanian operations, basing 1 new aircraft in Bucharest. The new Airbus A321 aircraft will join the fleet in June 2020, which will grow the local Bucharest fleet to a total of 12 aircraft. From June 2020, Wizz Air also announced a new attractive route from Bucharest to Lyon, France as well as increase weekly frequencies on the most popular services to Milan and Turin in Italy and Tel Aviv in Israel.

WIZZ is continuously expanding its Romanian network. Just a month ago WIZZ announced new destinations from Bucharest to London Southend and Edinburgh, which gives Romanian passengers more opportunities to travel to England and Scotland.
Wizz Air’s commitment to Romanian customers is underlined by the strong growth at its other nine Romanian airports as well. With a network of 148 services from Romania, WIZZ will have almost 11 million seats on sale on its Romanian routes in 2020, which represents a 10% growth year over year. WIZZ’s Romanian operations do not only provide affordable access at WIZZ’s lowest fares between Romania and the rest of Europe, but also stimulate the local job market in aviation and tourism sectors, supporting more than 7,400 jobs* this year in associated industries throughout the country.
With the latest expansion of its Romanian fleet, in 2020 Wizz Air will have 28 based aircraft in Romania employing more than nearly 1,000 customer-oriented crew, who deliver excellent service on each WIZZ flight. Wizz Air now offers 148 routes to 20 countries from ten Romanian airports and has just recently welcomed its 50 millionth passenger in Romania and 20 millionth passenger in Bucharest. Both of them were awarded with EUR 250 vouchers for Wizz Air flights.
Wizz Air was named The Best Low-Cost Carrier of the Year in 2019. The award was handed over at the Aviation Industry Awards Europe gala, part of Air Convention Europe 2019 in Vilnius on 17 September. The award is among the most important and prestigious prizes in the aviation industry. Over 150,000 people cast their votes for commercial airlines in the world. Wizz Air's excellent performance was recognised by awarding the airline with the Best Low-Cost Carrier of the Year prize .
