Wizz Air, the largest airline in Romania and one of Europe's fastest growing airlines, launched 7 new routes accompanied by the celebration of the two-year anniversary of its Iasi base and the deployment of a second aircraft to the local fleet. The modern 180-seater Airbus A320 aircraft will support the operations of the newest services available from Iasi to Billund, Brussels Charleroi, Dortmund, Eindhoven, Malmö, Paris Beauvais and Thessaloniki, as well the increased frequencies to 2 popular destinations from Iasi: Milan Bergamo and Tel-Aviv. In total, WIZZ schedule will have 20 additional weekly flights departing from Iasi.
With the 7 new routes, WIZZ’s local base operations are increasing with 49% in 2018, offering more than 550.000 seats on sale to 15 destination in 11 countries, with ticket fares available from as little as LEI 69*. The total investment in the Iasi base is exceeding $200 million** and is further stimulating the local job market, employing a local team of more than 70 aviation professionals and supporting over 280 jobs*** on a yearly basis in the region in the affiliated industries.
In the first six months of 2018, more than 190.000 passengers traveled on board of the airline’s flights from Iasi, a 15% year on year growth that underlines the increasing demand for WIZZ services and its low fares.

Already the largest airline in Romania, Wizz Air is offering now 141 routes to 22 countries (including one domestic flight Bucharest – Cluj Napoca) across Europe from 10 Romanian airports. In 2018, 21 new routes have already been announced in Romania, such as the popular destinations of Athens from Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, Nice, Lyon, or Malmo and Thessaloniki from Iași. Wizz Air is operating from 10 airports in Romania with a young fleet of 25 aircraft including 5 of the ultra-efficient brand new 230-seater Airbus A321, and the team currently working across the country is exceeding 1,000 local employees.
