Frankfurt, 1 November 2018 - Inaugural flight launched: Today marks the launch of the new Condor connection to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, which is offered three times a week with a Boeing 767-300 from Frankfurt (FRA). The fully booked inaugural flight was celebrated at the gate by Christian Schmitt, Managing Director & Accountable Manager Condor, Dr. Pierre Dominique Prümm, General Manager Aviation at Fraport AG, H.E. Datin Sarah Nava Rani Al Bakri Devadason, Ambassador of Malaysia to Germany, and 241 guests on board. Kuala Lumpur is the 90th destination that the German leisure carrier flies to from Frankfurt Airport. Through the interline agreement between Condor and Malaysia Airlines, Kuala Lumpur also offers a variety of connecting flights to destinations in Australia, New Zealand, Bali and Singapore.
Christian Schmitt, Managing Director & Accountable Manager Condor: "With Kuala Lumpur, we are adding another dream destination to our expanding long-haul network, which will help us establish ourselves on the Southeast Asian market and attract holidaymakers and business travelers alike. Southeast Asia has grown enormously in popularity in recent years, so the demand is high and we will be the only airline offering direct flights between Germany and Malaysia.”
"We are delighted that our valued customer Condor is expanding its attractive range of routes and is now offering three weekly flights from Frankfurt to the Malaysian metropolis Kuala Lumpur. After more than two years, Germany's gateway to the world will once again offer an important direct connection to one of Southeast Asia's most fascinating cities. Frankfurt Airport and Condor have a long partnership and we are proud that Condor has been flying from Frankfurt since 1956. We wish Condor "Always Happy Landings" at Frankfurt Airport," says Dr. Pierre Dominique Prümm, General Manager Aviation at Fraport AG.
“We are very proud that Kuala Lumpur is the first and only South East Asian destination that is served by Condor Airlines. Therefore, similarly, this connection offers German travellers greater connectivity to the rest of South East Asia, a region that is unique and rapidly growing”, says H.E. Datin Sarah Nava Rani Al Bakri Devadason, Ambassador of Malaysia to Germany. “We believe it will contribute to enhancing the whole spectrum of Malaysia-Germany relations including people-to-people contacts. Malaysia is a multi-racial and multi-cultural society which offers every visitor a glimpse of its interesting history, melting pot of cultures and exceptional variety of cuisines,” the Malaysian ambassador continues.
The metropolis Kuala Lumpur offers travelers a multitude of sights and a varied cityscape. Historic buildings are only a stone's throw away from modern skyscrapers. From the sky bridge of the Petronas Twin Towers, the highest twin towers in the world (452m), visitors have a fascinating view of the metropolis, which is widely regarded as a melting pot of different cultures. But Kuala Lumpur does not only have big city flair to offer: In the midst of the skyscrapers, visitors will find the "KL Forest Eco-Park", a rainforest that breaks up the cityscape and invites them to relax. Kuala Lumpur is also a shopping Eldorado and offers a wide range of culinary delights.
