Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced the permanent cancellation of the air operator certificate for Wataniya Airways after the end of the three-month deadline given to airline to amend its operational and administrative conditions.

The company operates a fleet of four A320s, and in mid-2018 Wataniya signed a firm order with Embraer for 10 E195-E2s and a firm order with Airbus for 25 A320neo family aircraft.

No word yet on whether the aircraft slots will be reallocated to other airlines or taken off the order book of the respective manufacturer.
