MEXICO CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Volaris (NYSE: VLRS Y BMV: VOLAR), the ultra-low cost Mexican carrier that operates in Mexico, the United States and Central America, inaugurated two new non-stop routes to Chicago and Los Angeles last week: Querétaro (QRO) – Chicago (MDW) and Querétaro (QRO) – Los Angeles (LAX). The addition of this new service gives both Chicago and Los Angeles more routes with Volaris than any other cities in the United States.

The city of Los Angeles – the second-largest U.S. city by population – has a population that is nearly 50 percent Hispanic (U.S. Census Bureau). Hispanic residents of Chicago – which features the third largest population of any city in the U.S. and the largest city in the country’s Mid West region – make up almost thirty percent of the city’s population (U.S. Census Bureau).

The large numbers of Hispanic residents in both Chicago and Los Angeles present an excellent opportunity for Volaris expansion. Both cities feature robust economies, diverse populations, Hispanic influence, large market size and have cultural ties to Mexico.

“These two new routes are key to Volaris’ drive to connect our ‘Visiting Friends and Relatives’ (VFR) audience on both sides of the border. By adding non-stop service from Querétaro to both Chicago and Los Angeles we follow through on our commitment to providing affordable and accessible travel options to our customers while simultaneously strengthening our foothold in two of the most important cities in North America,” said Volaris’ Chief Commercial Officer, Holger Blankenstein.

These new routes add to the 165 existing routes that Volaris currently offers – reinforcing the carrier’s position as the Mexican airline with the most U.S. destinations. With its extensive portfolio of routes that operate through Volaris’ point-to-point model the airline now offers customers the safest and fastest way to get to their destination of choice. Volaris maintains one of the youngest and most modern air fleets in the Americas.
