Vmo Aircraft Leasing Adds Commercial Executive with Focus on Asia Pacific

Vmo Aircraft Leasing ("Vmo"), a San Francisco-based aircraft leasing company, announced today the addition of Marilyn Gan as Senior Vice President, Head of Asia-Pacific.

Gan will be responsible for establishing and leading Vmo’s presence in Asia Pacific. She will open the Asia office and lead the lessor’s business efforts in the region, identifying market opportunities and growing its presence.

"Marilyn’s deep knowledge and experience of the aviation industry, as well as her extensive relationships with aviation stakeholders throughout Asia Pacific, will be central to growing our platform’s APAC presence," said Sean Sullivan, Vmo Aircraft Leasing Chief Commercial Officer.

Gan joins Vmo from Singapore-based MUFG Bank, where she served as Managing Director and Head of Origination, Asia Pacific Aviation, following the acquisition of DVB Bank’s aviation portfolio in 2019. Prior to the acquisition, Gan was Managing Director and Regional Head Asia Pacific Aviation Finance, with responsibility for managing DVB Bank‘s airline relationships and lending opportunities. During more than a decade at DVB Bank, she led new market development initiatives, including the bank’s entry into the Chinese financing leasing space and expansion in the EMEA region.

Asia Pacific will generate substantial growth for the commercial aviation sector, presenting attractive investment opportunities for Vmo. "With an eye on Asia Pacific’s expected growth trajectory, the knowledge of local markets and an established network of relationships will be key to taking advantage of the region’s future potential. Marilyn is well positioned with the right background and transactional track record to help us achieve that," added Robert Brown, Vmo Aircraft Leasing Chief Executive Officer.

"I’m delighted to take on this new role to be a part of Vmo’s well-regarded management team and to grow our presence in Asia Pacific. Despite the challenges in today’s market, we believe that the travel and airline sector will continue to remain core to many economies globally. I look forward to working with our many prospective airline customers to deliver effective fleet solutions in this rapidly growing region," commented Marilyn Gan, Vmo Aircraft Leasing Senior Vice President, Head of Asia Pacific.

Gan holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from University College London and has completed executive programs at INSEAD and the London Business School. She was elected to the Board of ISTAT in 2015 and is currently serving on its Executive Board as the first-ever Asian female member. Gan is an active panelist at various aviation conferences and was awarded the Airfinance Journal Women of the Year award in 2019.
