Orlando, Fla. (June 10, 2021) – As part of its continuing international expansion, Latin America’s leading low-cost airline Viva Air today launched new nonstop low-fare service between Medellin, Colombia and Orlando with full flight loads.
The newly painted Airbus A320neo arrived at Orlando International Airport displaying Viva’s new brand image that the airline unveiled a couple weeks ago. The bright new livery features Viva’s cheerful and enthusiastic heart of yellow color and its boomerang icon symbolizing roundtrip flying, modernity, freshness, closeness, agility and simplicity.
Viva has one of the most modern fleets in Latin America and is operating its new 188-seat fuel-efficient and eco-friendly Airbus A320neo aircraft on this new route.
Viva Air is now operating three weekly nonstop flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between Medellin’s José María Córdova International Airport (MDE) and Orlando International Airport (MCO). As a result of the high demand from travelers for this new route, Viva has increased frequencies from July 8 – August 28, 2021, to five flights per week. Viva Air also currently offers nonstop service between Medellin and Miami International Airport (MIA).
Fares for the Medellin-Orlando route from $111* one-way are available at vivaair.com.
As part of the ‘Viva Effect,’ the airline expects to deliver the following as a result of the low-cost carrier’s arrival in Orlando:
- A 20 percent reduction in market fares for this route
- An 84 percent load factor in the first year
- 27,700 passengers in the first year
“As we continue to grow our international operations and low-fare network, we are excited to bring our low fares to the high-demand Orlando-area market,” said Viva Air Group Chief Financial Officer Jason Bewley during today’s inaugural activities at Orlando International Airport. “We look forward to giving more people the opportunity to travel affordably between Central Florida and our Medellin hub, as well as convenient connections to the many destinations we serve throughout Colombia and beyond.”

Congratulations!”

In addition to nonstop service between Medellin and Orlando, the new route will provide convenient connections to Viva Air’s extensive network throughout Colombia, including the popular beach destinations of Santa Marta and San Andres, as well as cultural cities such as Bogota, Bucaramanga and Cali, plus direct connections to Lima, Peru.
