Hanoi, 7 May 2020 – To stimulate domestic travel and meet passengers’ travel demand after Vietnam's positive containment of the COVID-19 pandemic, carriers in Vietnam Airlines Group including Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, and VASCO plan to increase the frequency of domestic flights with the supervision of the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam and soon brace for the recovery of their entire domestic network beginning June 2020.

Specifically, from now until the 15^th of May, Vietnam Airlines will continue to operate 17 flights per day on the trunk routes connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. From the 16^th of May, the carrier is expected to increase the frequency of this route to 23 flights per day; Danang – Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City routes to 8 flights per day; Ho Chi Minh City – Phu Quoc route to 6-7 flights per day; Ho Chi Minh City – Hai Phong/Thanh Hoa/Vinh routes to 5 flights per day; and those on the remaining routes to 1- 4 flights per day.

It is estimated that by June 2020, Vietnam Airlines will completely recover its domestic flight network after the resumption of Danang – Van Don and Danang - Can Tho routes. The carrier is also working on launching new routes to diversify its product portfolio, thus meeting passengers’ travel demand and promoting post-COVID-19 growth.

From the 7^th of May, Jetstar Pacific will also resume the operation of Ho Chi Minh City – Danang/Vinh/Thanh Hoa routes with the frequency of 1 flight per day; Ho Chi Minh City – Pleiku/Chu Lai/Dong Hoi routes of 4 four flights per week on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The carrier is keeping a close watch on the market demand to increase its flight frequency in the coming days, especially on the Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City trunk route.

Vietnam Air Service Company (VASCO) will also increase the flight frequency on Ho Chi Minh City – Con Dao route to 6-8 flights per day. The carrier is expected to regularly operate 2-3 flights per week on Hanoi – Dien Bien, Ho Chi Minh City – Rach Gia/ Ca Mau, and Can Tho – Con Dao routes.

On this occasion, Vietnam Airlines has launched a promotion that offers passengers special fares starting from VND199,000/flight (equivalent to VND689,000/flight with taxes and fees included) on numerous routes. The promotion will last five days, from the 7^th to the 12^th of May 2020, and apply to flights departing from the 7^th of May to the 30^th of June 2020.

During this period, Vietnam Airlines Group will adjust flight schedules based on the actual situation and functional authorities’ approval. Passengers will be assisted in changing their flight dates or itineraries as per the carriers’ current policies in the case of any changes in flight schedules.

To enhance the prevention and control of the pandemic, the operation of flights during this period still complies with stringent regulations of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Transport. Passengers will receive instructions on body temperature screening and pre-boarding health declaration. In addition, all passengers are required to wear face masks throughout the flights. Following the regulation of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam, the carriers will continue to disinfect the whole aircraft and remove in-flight meals on domestic flights.
