Hanoi, July 2017 – Vietnam Airlines JSC. would like to announce the results of our business performance in the first 6 months of 2017 as follows:

Encouraging growth

In the first 6 months of 2017, the Corporation has made more than 70,400  safe flights, the on-time performance index (OTP) was recorded higher than international level, reaching 91.3% on average, jumping 6,1 points compared to the same period and exceeded 3.3 points against the target. Nearly 10.3 million passengers have been carried, an increase of more than 6% over the same period, in which, transportation on domestic routes increased by 9.3%. Freight output stood at 155 thousand tons, exceeding the target with an increase of more than 24% over the same period.

The Corporation’s finance is stably maintained, large balances are ensured, the ability to pay remains strong. Total revenues and consolidated income were estimated at nearly 43 trillion VND, an increase of more than 18% over the same period, consolidated pre-tax profit was estimated at 830 billion VND, equivalent to nearly 51% of the target for 2017.

Enhanced service quality

Vietnam Airlines is constantly improving its service quality, fulfilling 90% requirements of the 4-5 star services set out by Skytrax. The overall customer satisfaction index recorded by in flight survey reached 3.83 points out of 5, exceeding the target and higher than same period last year.

During its development process, Vietnam Airlines always pays special attention to the feedback from customers with a view to better accommodating their needs. Most recently, the company officially opened a 24/7 Call Center equipped with more than 100 telephone operators, as well as introduced an online survey to replace in flight paper survey to support customers and answer questions, receive feedback from them anytime, anywhere.

A pioneer in international integration to enhance the position of Vietnam aviation industry

Mid-2017 also marked two years since Vietnam Airlines all together successfully put into operation and transferred technology of the two next generation aircrafts Airbus A350-900 XWB and Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The company's new fleet now consists of 11 Boeing 787-9s with 165 pilots and 7 A350s with 106 pilots, making more than 20.2 thousand safe flights. The company has efficiently grasped technology and exploited the two new aircrafts mostly by its Vietnamese pilots, flight attendants and technicians. Vietnam Airlines has been widely recognized by our manufacturers and partners as one of the airlines having successfully conquered the most advanced "flying dreams" of the world, contributing to raising the profile and affirming the position of Vietnam's aviation industry on the international market.

During the meeting to review results of its 6 month operation at the headquarters of Vietnam Airlines, Minister of Transport Truong Quang Nghia said: "On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Transportation, I would like to acknowledge and congratulate the efforts made by the Corporation in the first 6 months of 2017. Despite numerous difficulties, the Corporation has achieved important development milestones, especially in maintaining the punctuality index, the service quality at a higher level compared to previous years, living up to our expectation as a national airline to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party and the State as well as to ensure the sustainable development of the business. "

In the last 6 months of 2017, Vietnam Airlines will continue to allocate resources to ensure flight safety and security, especially to serve the peak period of summer, improve the efficiency of fleet usage, work in close collaboration with our member units, the strategic partner ANA and SkyTeam alliance to introduce to the market more reasonable products which are convenient in connection and attractive in prices, meeting the international quality of 4-star services as well as the increasing needs of passengers.
