Hanoi, 15 April 2020 – To meet travel demand and trade activities, Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific will increase the flight frequency on Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City route effective from 16 April 2020, following approval of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV). Accordingly, two consecutive flights landing in Ho Chi Minh City will be at least 90 minutes apart.

Under the revised schedule, Vietnam Airlines will operate two return flights per day on Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City route instead of one return flight as before. Flights on Danang  - Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City routes will remain the same with one return flight per day.

Jetstar Pacific will also increase its flight frequency on Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City route to one return flight per day, instead of four return flights per week as before. These flights are operated under a codeshare agreement, enhancing the “dual brand” strategy between the two airlines to utilize existing resources and minimize costs amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Passengers who purchased tickets of Vietnam Airlines (ticket numbers beginning with 738) travelling on code-share flights operated by Jetstar Pacific (flight VN4565, VN4566) will enjoy full services both on ground and inflight, similar to those of Vietnam Airlines. These services include free baggage allowance, in-flight meals, etc. At the same time, Lotusmiles members are still eligible for all policies of the program, including mile accumulation, reward redemption, as well as other incentives and privileges.

Apart from its extensive cleaning practices, Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific disinfect all aircraft upon landing in Hanoi, Danang, and HCMC. At the end of each day, aircraft are sprayed with disinfectant once more, and the disinfectant is left to sit overnight.dis

The two airlines continuously take preventive measures, such as implementing health screenings for passengers at airports, requiring completed online health declaration form before embarkation, refusing boarding passengers showing signs of COVID-19 infection, and arranging seats which are spaced apart from one another as per the regulations of CAAV. The flight crew on all flights are equipped with complete medical protective gear. Passengers are required to wear face masks throughout the flight.

During this time, the flight schedules may be adjusted according to the actual operating conditions. In case the operation plan is affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific will support the affected passengers in changing departure dates or itineraries as per the current regulations.
