Václav Havel Airport Prague to be Connected with 112 Destinations in 2017/2018 Winter Season
On Sunday, 29 October 2017, the winter schedule comes into effect at Václav Havel Airport Prague. 61 airlines plan to operate at Václav Havel Airport Prague during the winter season, with 56 air carriers servicing passenger routes. The new schedule features regular connections to 112 destinations, which is eight more than during the same period last year. Passengers can also look forward to flights to 11 new destinations.
The winter schedule will be in effect at Václav Havel Airport Prague until 24 March 2018. “We are very pleased that the upcoming winter season will again see continued growth in air connections from Václav Havel Airport Prague. Not only will we offer connections to eleven new destinations during the following months, but, compared to last winter, we will welcome five new passenger carriers. The established carriers will also offer passengers new choices, as a number of them plan to increase their existing capacity in Prague, for example Qatar Airways with the launch of its second direct daily connection to Doha, the capital of Qatar, effective December 2017,” said Václav Řehoř, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors.
A total of 41 countries will be serviced from Václav Havel Airport Prague during the winter schedule. Great Britain will be the country with the most operated destinations, thanks to the 15 different places connected with Prague (3 more than last winter), followed by Russia with ten destinations and Spain, Italy and France with nine destinations. Iceland and Georgia are the new additions to the list of countries operated in winter seasons.
The greatest number of flights a day will head to London this winter season, with up to 13 daily connections. For the first time in the airport’s history, all international airports in London will be connected with Prague thanks to a new route to London/City airport serviced six times a week by BA Cityflyer, a daughter company of British Airways. Moscow will be among the destinations heavily frequented this winter, too with up to nine daily connections, followed by Paris, Amsterdam and Frankfurt with up to seven frequencies a day.
Alongside London/City, aircraft from Prague will also head to another airport in London, namely Southend, thanks to the Flybe connection launched last May. Ryanair, a low-cost carrier, will also increase the number of connections with Great Britain, as it will offer passengers flights to Liverpool during the upcoming winter season. Moreover, the Irish low-cost carrier will launch eight new routes from Prague, including its new connection to Krakow. Kaliningrad (with Rusline), Tbilisi (with Georgian Airways), Keflavik (with Wizz Air), Aarhus (with Czech Airlines) and Eilat in Israel (with Wizz Air) will also extend the offer of destinations served from Prague this winter. Xi’an in China, primarily known for its Terracotta Army, will be a long-haul destination served for the first time in winter. The connection to Doha in Qatar, launched last summer, will be continued, facilitating interesting connections to ongoing flights to Asia and Australia.
Qatar Airways, Flybe, BA Cityflyer, Rusline and Georgian Airways will be passenger airlines operating at Václav Havel Airport Prague for the first time during the winter season.
Passengers will also be able to choose from an interesting offer of winter break destinations. Charter flights will head to exotic destinations, such as Kenya, the Cape Verde islands, Oman, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Vietnam.
