Two more Airbus A330-900NEO arrive at Lisbon for TAP
In December, TAP became the first airline in the world to offer its clients unbeatable economic features, greater range and efficiency and the new Airspace cabin. It is a new concept that fits in with the company’s goal to offer its customers the best product in the industry: the Airbus A330-900neo.
The company is also the first to offer unlimited text messages via wi-fi to all passengers at absolutely no cost on transatlantic flights in this aircraft.
By the end of 2019, TAP will receive another 16 Airbus A330-900neos in addition to the three already delivered.
In addition to the latest generation inflight entertainment and connectivity, including wi-fi, the Airbus A330-900neo has 298 seats comfortably arranged across three cabin classes: 34 seats in executive, 96 in economy plus and 168 in economy. The new Airspace by Airbus cabin offers each passenger more space, bigger luggage compartments and an innovative cabin lighting system. The new aircraft will be used to enhance TAP’s long-haul operations.
The Airbus A330-900neo is a state-of-the-art aircraft. It includes the latest generation and super efficient Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 turbines, a larger wing with 3D optimisation and new sharklets to provide the best aerodynamic performance. These advances result in a 10-12% reduction in fuel consumption compared to last generation aircraft of a similar size.
TAP is to receive 37 new aircraft by the end of this year, and 71 by 2025, when the company will have one of the most modern fleets in the world.
This fleet renewal and expansion has enabled the company to announce more flights and new destinations. In North America, new destinations now on sale are San Francisco, Washington and Chicago, which are added to existing destinations New York JFK, New York Newark, Boston and Miami, from Lisbon, and New York Newark from Porto, as well as Toronto, in Canada.
Naples, Tenerife, Tel Aviv, Dublin and Basel are yet more new destinations TAP has announced for 2019.
