Traffic results for February 2018: More Passengers flew with Austrian Airlines
- February 2018: 742,000 passengers – plus of 16.2 percent
- January to February 2018: around 1.5 million passengers – plus of 13.4 percent
- Passenger load-factor in February up 6.1. percentage points to 72.7 percent
Following the positive start to the New Year (plus 10.5 percent in January 2018), Austrian Airlines increased its passenger volume for the month of February 2018 as well: Austria’s flag carrier transported 742,000 passengers, corresponding to a rise of 16.2 percent compared to February of 2017. This increase is mainly due to the airline’s expanded flight offering in Europe. The flight offering as measured in available seat kilometers (ASK) was up 1.0 percent to around 1.5 billion. Revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) increased by 10.2 percent to more than 1.1 billion. Capacity utilization of the flights (passenger load factor) was at an average of 72.7 percent, a plus of 6.1 percentage points compared to the prior-year month.
Andreas Otto, Member of the Executive Board and CCO of Austrian Airlines, commented: “The positive trend, with which we started into the new year, continued in February. We offered more flights to many destinations such as Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Milan or Zurich. Therefore we were able to fly significantly more passengers.”
In the period January to February 2018, Austrian Airlines carried a total of around 1.5 million passengers, comprising a rise of 13.4 percent. The flight offering in available seat kilometers (ASK) was up by 0.7 percent to around 3.2 billion. Revenue passenger kilometers amounted to more than 2.3 billion, an increase of 5.2 percent compared to the first two months of 2017. Capacity utilization was up by 3.0 percentage points to 71.1 percent.
