Thomas Cook takes off to Marsa Alam as Egypt grows in popularity

  • New destination Marsa Alam added for winter following surge in demand for Egypt
  • Weekly Flights to Marsa Alam from Birmingham and London Gatwick from 19 October
  • Seven night all inclusive packages at a Thomas Cook own brand hotel from £416 per person

Thomas Cook is launching Marsa Alam as a new destination in Egypt, offering even more choice this winter. This follows a rapid growth in sales for Hurghada which have seen a 113% year-on-year increase for winter 2017, as holidaymakers seek value for money breaks with guaranteed sunshine and warmer temperatures.

Marsa Alam’s balmy year-round temperatures range from the mid 20’s to low 30’s Celsius, for snorkelling and diving on the world famous Elphinstone reef.

Those who prefer land based activities can view spectacular wildlife in the Wadi el Gamal National Park which is home to a variety of rare bird and animal breeds and also explore ‘Cleopatra’s mines’ where gold and emeralds were previously excavated. Marsa Alam is also well placed for seeing Egypt’s ancient historical sites in Luxor and El Quseir.

Thomas Cook offers a choice of nine resort-based hotels along Marsa Alam’s long coastline, including the Nubian style SENTIDO Oriental Dream which has its own coral reef and private beach, with all-inclusive packages available from £539 per person.

Thomas Cook UK MD Chris Mottershead, said:“ At Thomas Cook we follow customer demand to make sure we are offering attractive hotels in sought after destinations. Egypt has proven popular this summer and bookings remain strong for the winter period.”
