The Ministry of Finance, now headed by Maria Elsa Viteri, made a new dollar loan to the state carrier TAME, one month after the former Minister, Carlos de la Torre, approved a similar loan of US$50 million.
The new installment would be made to the airline for US$35 million in cash, with the goal of restoring the airline to a profitable company.
The carrier is expected to repay the funds by 2020, as part of the agreement. The remaining money required for the carrier's restructuring, a sum of over US$60 million, will be delivered as needed to TAME.
