Swiss International Airlines has ordered an extra Boeing 777–300ER. The airline previously ordered 9 Boeing 777–300ER aircraft of which 6 aircraft have already been delivered.
Swiss International Airlines operates an Airbus focused fleet, the Boeing 777–300ER is the only Boeing type the airline operates. The airline is currently in the process of renewing its wide body fleet. The airline will remove 7 Airbus A340 aircraft from service, while adding another 4 Boeing 777–300ER aircraft.
Swiss order helpful to Boeing
The order provides Boeing with some much needed orderflow for its most succesful wide body aircraft. Earlier Qatar Airways already ordered 10 Boeing 777–300ER airframes, bring the total net orders for the Boeing 777–300ER in 2016 to 17.
Even including this order inflow Boeing has to sell almost 100 airframes to sustain current announced production rates.
