Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) transported 3,730,131 passengers in the first three months of 2018, some 1.9% more than it carried in the same period last year. A total of 32,380 flights were operated in the first-quarter period, 2.5% fewer than a year ago.
Total first-quarter capacity was raised 2.6% this year in available seat-kilometre (ASK) terms. Total traffic volume, measured in revenue passenger-kilometres (RPKs), was up 3.0%. Systemwide seat load factor for the period improved accordingly, rising 0.3 percentage points to 77.9%.
SWISS carried 1,410,605 passengers in March 2018, a 5.2% increase on the prior-year period. A total of 11,428 flights were operated for the month, 2.2% fewer than in March 2017. ASK capacity was raised 3.0%, while RPK traffic volume was up 8.3%. Systemwide seat load factor for the month amounted to 82.7%, an improvement of 4.0 percentage points.
