Since the event affecting AirAsia X flight D7237, Rolls-Royce has worked closely with the airline as well as other relevant partners and authorities to understand the cause of the issue.

Initial findings confirm the cause to be engine related and we are working with our partners to fully understand the reasons behind this issue.

Maintenance of the engine in question is led by Rolls-Royce, under a TotalCare service agreement with AirAsia X.

TotalCare is Rolls-Royce’s highest level of service and is available to any airline. Rolls-Royce would like to make it clear that there is no difference in the level of service provided between airlines, including low-cost carriers.

The Trent 700 is Rolls-Royce’s best-selling engine, with over 1,500 engines in service today across 81 customers. With 44 million hours of operation accumulated by the whole fleet of engines, the Trent 700 is a market leader in safety and reliability.
