-Fullfilling the promise given to Hungarian passengers LOT continues to grow in Budapest. Now we announce a new direct flights to important cities in Europe and in the world. After London City, it's time for services to Brussels and Bucharest, the capitals with so far underserved connections by the full service airline. From now on, only LOT offers three classes of travel onboard comfortable Embraer jets. That's what our passengers are needed for - says Rafał Milczarski, CEO of LOT. - With those new flights we start develop transfer traffic via Budapest airport. That applies to passengers i.e. from Bucharest, who can connect in Budapest to London City, New York and Chicago, as well as to Brussels. The offer of transit connections will definitely increase the attractiveness of the Budapest airport - he adds.
-Budapest Airport warmly welcomes the further increase of destinations offered by LOT Polish Airlines from Hungary - said Jost Lammers, CEO of Budapest Airport. He added. -The new flights to main capital airports answers existing demand by passengers and add to the connectivity available form Budapest. Together with the trans-Atlantic flights, Warsaw, Kraków and London City connections later this month, will continue to keep LOT among the best developing carriers at our airport.
The new flights will be operated using modern Embraer 195s with 118 seats in three travel classes: business, premium economy and economy. To service the new routes, one of LOT’s airplane of that type will be permanently stationed in Budapest.
The launch of the new connections is a part of LOT’s growth strategy in Hungary and strengthening of its leading position among passenger airlines in the Central and Eastern Europe. Apart from the two new connections to Brussels and Bucharest, LOT has also been operating its flights to New York, Chicago and Kraków since 2018, and on 18 February 2019 it is going to launch a connection to London City. At present LOT offered jobs to 80 members of Hungarian cabin crews to operate its flights from Budapest; the carrier has also been recruiting new pilots.
LOT is currently the fastest growing airline in Europe. Since the beginning of 2016 it has been implementing its profitable growth strategy and the majority of its commitments have been fulfilled ahead of time. LOT has been constantly working on expanding its fleet. In December 2018 more new airplanes were delivered: Boeing 737 MAX 8 and four Embraer 190s (LOT already has 34 Embraers of four types).
