ST Engineering’s Aerospace Arm Secures Airframe Heavy Maintenance Contract
Singapore, 10 February 2020 – ST Engineering today announced that its Aerospace arm has secured a three-year airframe heavy maintenance contract from a major North American airline. Under the agreement, ST Engineering will provide heavy maintenance support on the airline’s fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft (comprising A319, A320, A321neo) at the Group’s facilities in San Antonio, Texas, U.S.. The first aircraft was inducted and redelivered in January 2020.
ST Engineering’s facility in San Antonio has 700,000 square feet of hangar space that can accommodate eight widebody and seven narrowbody aircraft at San Antonio International Airport, where about 1,200 experienced and trained employees work round the clock to provide comprehensive aircraft maintenance and modification services for a wide range of commercial and VIP aircraft.
According to industry reports, demand for airframe heavy maintenance is expected to be led by North America and Western Europe in the next few years. In anticipation of the strong and growing demand, ST Engineering is boosting its capacity to serve the North America region and its global customer base by expanding its existing airframe MRO facility in Pensacola. Construction work for the expansion is targeted to commence this year. Once completed, the Pensacola facility will have a total annual capacity of 2.1 million labour hours.
ST Engineering is showcasing its MRO solutions together with other aerospace capabilities at the Aviation cluster of the ST Engineering Pavilion (G01) at Singapore Airshow 2020 from 11 – 16 February.
