South Korea fines several airlines for safety violations
South Korea’s Transport Ministry carried out an administrative review of carriers involved in safety violations, which resulted in fines to several airlines.
Asiana Airlines received a US$802,282 fine for a runway accident in July 2015. Korean Air was fined $1 million for incidents involving a dangerous landing in 2015 and continuing a flight despite an aircraft malfunction in 2016. T'way Air was fined $269,000 for using a runway without authorization in 2015 and reusing parts that were due to be returned. Jeju Air was also fined $538 million for failing to report a pilot who didn’t renew his English proficiency test results.
