Monday, 3rd July 2017: SMBC Aviation Capital, one of the world’s leading aircraft leasing companies, has today confirmed the placement of a new Boeing 737-800 with Japanese carrier Solaseed Air.

This follows SMBC Aviation Capital’s earlier announcement in April 2017 that it had purchased three Boeing 737-800s. All three aircraft will be powered with CFM engines.

Commenting on the transaction, Peter Barrett, CEO of SMBC Aviation Capital said: “This is an exciting announcement as it is our first aircraft placement with Solaseed Air and we look forward to developing our relationship with them.

The Boeing 737-800 is an aircraft for which we have seen significant demand from our customer base, who view the aircraft as a modern and efficient addition to their fleet.”

SMBC Aviation Capital’s owned, managed and committed portfolio of B737-800 aircraft stands at 199. In addition to its portfolio of B737-800s, SMBC Aviation Capital has an order book of 90 737 MAX 8s, with the first delivery scheduled in 2018.
