Prague, 14 January 2022 - Last year, Smartwings airlines carried more than 2.5 million (2,529,611) passengers on scheduled and charter flights, which represents a 199% year-on-year increase. Other 159 thousand passengers traveled on board Smartwings Group aircrafts operated on ACMI wet lease agreements with other carriers. Last year, more than 2.7 million passengers (2,716,299) used Smartwings services in the Czech Republic and abroad. The greatest number of passengers, 1.55 million, traveled with Smartwings from / to the Czech Republic (up 221.5%). Over 981 thousand passengers travelled with Smartwings on flights operated from its hubs in other countries. Besides the Czech Republic, Smartwings operated flights from airports in Poland, France, Germany, Israel, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Canary Islands.

Last year, Smartwings made over 18.8 thousand flights (up 170%) and its aircraft landed at 287 airports worldwide. The company carried 1,238,480 passengers on regular routes (up 188.85%) and 1,291,131 passengers on charter flights (up 208.65%). Besides scheduled and charter flights, Smartwings also provided a wide range of special flights for international corporations as well as for humanitarian and athletic organizations throughout the year. Smartwings also newly provided air transport services for German travel agencies from airports in Germany and Switzerland, and starting in autumn, the company provided new services from the Canary Islands to six European destinations.

Last year, Smartwings operated flights from Czech airports to 80 destinations, being the largest carrier at Václav Havel Airport Prague. In July 2021, Smartwings ranked as the 2nd most punctual airline in Europe and 4th worldwide among 288 peers.

In early November 2021, Smartwings and German airline Eurowings, a member of the Lufthansa Group, announced a new codeshare agreement. Smartwings also renewed a codeshare agreement with Israeli-based Israir Airlines. Despite the continuing Covid-19 pandemic, Smartwings managed to win wet-lease contracts in the USA and Israel last year to utilize its aircraft during the 2021/2022 winter season.
