NEW YORK, March 28, 2022 – As part of a major network rebuilding effort, Singapore Airlines (SIA) today reintroduces A380 superjumbo aircraft on flights from New York John F. Kennedy Airport to Singapore (via Frankfurt) and has also relaunched nonstop Newark-to-Singapore flights. With these restored services, SIA has reached the important milestone of rebuilding more than 90 percent of its U.S. route network that was previously suspended by the pandemic. Not only does the move expand SIA’s NYC flight frequency by 50 percent, but it also introduces U.S. travelers to the ultra-luxurious SIA First Class Suite with up to 100 square feet of personal space.
“SIA is firmly committed to rebuilding our U.S. route network, and today’s relaunch of larger A380 aircraft and our re-start of nonstop flights at Newark are proof-positive of that commitment,” said Joey Seow, Regional Vice President – Americas for the carrier. “The pandemic saw our flight schedule reduced from 57 weekly services to just 3. Since then, we’ve diligently worked to re-establish connectivity from key U.S. cities to Singapore, initially aided by the debut of Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) flights enabling quarantine-free entry to Singapore. With today’s flight restorations, along with the additional schedule growth planned in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Houston, we will expand to operate 62 weekly flights, or fully 108 percent of our pre-covid frequency, by June 2022. Despite the significant challenges of the past two years, we are excited to emerge from covid as a larger, stronger carrier serving a broader range of U.S. cities,” he said. “In addition, SIA has recently re-entered the Canadian market for the first time in more than a decade, operating nonstop flights from Vancouver.”
World’s Most Luxurious First Class Debuts in the U.S.
SIA’s expansion at JFK also marks the launch of the company’s exclusive new First Class Suite cabin. Available exclusively on Singapore Airlines’ Airbus A380 aircraft, the SIA Suite is the height of in-flight luxury. Behind sliding doors that open to your private sanctuary, each Suite is equipped with richly upholstered, full grain leather seats by Poltrona Frau, a separate bed, hand-tufted carpets, leather padded stowage compartments for small personal items, and an en-suite wardrobe for cabin luggage. Well- appointed, spacious lavatories feature a sit-down vanity counter stocked with an exquisite range of toiletries. More than 1,600 on-demand entertainment options are available via a 32” HD touchscreen monitor paired with Bang and Olufsen noise-canceling headphones, as well as complimentary Internet connectivity.
The carrier offers six Suites, located on the forward upper deck of the aircraft, each providing between 50 and 100 square feet of private space for single travelers or couples flying together.
New A380 Business Class Cabin Debuts in U.S.
The upgraded A380 aircraft also features one of SIA’s newest Business Class cabins, now making its U.S. debut on the New York-Frankfurt-Singapore route. Located on the upper deck, this premium cabin accommodates 78 passengers, each in hand-stitched, full-grain leather seats by Poltrona Frau. The cabin is arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, providing all passengers with direct aisle access. Each seat measures a generous 25 inches wide, and also reclines into a fully flat, 78” long bed (a unique, double bed option is also available for couples traveling together); sculpted side wings provide greater privacy from the aisle.
Passengers can enjoy multiple stowage compartments for laptops and personal items, an 18-inch, high- definition touchscreen monitor for access to more than 1,000 on-demand viewing options, as well as noise-canceling headphones, adaptor-free in-seat power supply, adjustable reading lights. Each passenger is presented with a personal amenity kit from Penhaligons, which also supplies a range of premium toiletries in dedicated Business Class lavatories.
A New Record: SIA Makes NYC Home to World’s Two Longest Flights:
SIA has also announced the restoration of daily flights from Newark Liberty International Airport from 28 March 2022, operating with nonstop service to Singapore. With this reinstatement, SIA expands to serve the New York metro area with three daily flights, including nonstops from both Newark and JFK to Singapore, and A380 service from JFK operating to Singapore via Frankfurt. SIA will now operate the world’s two longest flights – each approximately 18:45 hours nonstop – from the NYC area, providing passengers with additional schedule options for the fastest means of travel to Southeast Asia.
SIA’s roster of North American points now includes New York (JFK), Newark* (EWR), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA) and Vancouver (YVR).

Restored Routes, Enhanced Flying Experience
SIA is also expanding its inflight wellness program to nonstop services from both JFK and Newark, a range of health-focused dishes designed by chefs at the famed Golden Door, recently rated the world’s #1 destination spa.
SIA is also expanding its partnership with AeroFarms, one of the world’s largest indoor, vertical farms, to provide passengers on all flights departing JFK and Newark Airports with the world’s freshest inflight dining. As part of the carrier’s Farm to Plane local sourcing initiative, produce for SIA’s inflight meals are grown “aeroponically” under LED lights and without soil, sunlight or pesticides. Greens are grown a few miles from the airports and are typically served to passengers within about 24 hours of harvest for maximal flavor and nutritional value.
