During his recent working tour of Australia, after signing the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Eduardo Ferreyros, met with executives of Qantas Airlines Limited and presented to them the opportunities offered by Peru regarding air and cargo transportation.
After the meeting, the head of Mincetur (the Ministry) said the Qantas representatives had showed a special interest in Peru for its potential.
As is well known, Qantas was founded in 1920 and today is recognized as the world’s premier long distance airline and one of the strongest brands in Australia.
This particular meeting was part of the Minister’s schedule of meetings with dozens of Australian businessmen to whom he explained the various opportunities that the Peruvian market has in the trade and tourism sectors, so as to take advantage of the FTA.
The Minister said this is his country’s first approach to entrepreneurs from Australia after the signing of the FTA. "The Free Trade Agreement allows Peru to approach one of the most important markets in the Asia Pacific region and whose inhabitants have great purchasing power. I am sure that this treaty will give us great opportunities”, he said.
He added that the newly installed Commercial Office of Peru in Sydney (OCEX Sydney) will promote business opportunities, in addition to Peruvian products, tourism, investments and the image of the country.
