Oriole plans to become Jamaica's newest airline

Oriole Limited plans to become the newest airline in Jamaica. The start-up carrier plans to launch LCC operations in March 2021, flying domestically and across the Caribbean.

Chairman Aloun Ndombet-Assamba says the comapny is backed by investors from Jamaica and Europe, with veteran Keith Kerr joining the company as project director and chief executive officer designate.

The project is currently 80% funded along a five-year path, while the opportunity for Jamaicas to invest remains open. Further capital is expected from a planned initial public offering, post the start-up phase.

The type and quanity of aircraft are yet to be disclosed, however they will be leased.

Domestic flights will consist of a hourly shuttle between Kingston and Montego Bay and others will be intra-island. Regional flights will reach Barbados, Curacao, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Panama, and Trinidad & Tobago.
