Norwegian shies aways from potential sale following 2Q profit

Norwegian Air Shuttle CEO and founder Bjorn Kjos says it is "too early" to sell the airline after posting a surprise 2Q 2018 net profit of US$37.2 million. The carrier has been recently approached by International Airlines Group and Lufthansa, with IAG buying a 4.6% stake.

Norwegian also plans to lower its capital expenditure in 2018 to $1.54 billion, down from the $1.68 billion previously planned.

Going forward, the growth will slow down and ramp-up costs will decrease, in line with Norwegian’s strategy.

Total revenue for the quarter rose 32% to $1.26 billion.
