Norwegian to open a base at Tenerife Norte airport on 25 March 2018, its third in the Canary Islands and its eighth in Spain. The carrier will base one B737-800 at the airport, which will operate domestic flights to Madrid, Barcelona and Alicante.

Including the recent aircraft addition, Norwegian will have eight aircraft based in the archipelago, allowing flights to increase 16% over 2017, as 560,000 seats will be offered between the Canary Islands and mainland Spain in summer 2018 season.
