Estonia’s national airline Nordica transported 61,000 passengers in October 2017 – a 67% increase on the same period last year. It also retained the largest market share of any airline with flights departing from Tallinn, at 27%. Nordica operated a total of 1146 flights in October. 98% of all planned flights took off, 81% doing so within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time. The most popular destinations were Munich in Germany, the Polish capital Warsaw and Stockholm in Sweden.
The summer season was an intensive but successful one for Nordica, during which it flew more than 420,000 passengers – 160,000 more than in the same period in 2016. The most popular holiday destinations this summer were Split and Rijeka in Croatia, Nice in southern France and the Ukrainian Black Sea resort of Odessa. Toomas Uibo, Nordica’s Director of Marketing and Communication, says that two new destination will be added to the airline’s summer schedule in the coming year.
“Starting in summer 2018, passengers will be able to fly direct from Tallinn to the Romanian resort of Constanta on the shores of the Black Sea and to the biggest tourist drawcard in Macedonia, Ohrid,” he explained. Travellers have already shown great interest in both destinations, he added. Nordica is continuing to explore possibilities to broaden the travel options available to people in Estonia.
