NIKI to set up a crew base in Dusseldorf

NIKI is planning to set up a crew base at Dusseldorf Airport. Establishing the first NIKI base in Germany is set to be completed by autumn 2017. Currently, eight Airbus A-321 aircraft are already stationed at Dusseldorf. By autumn, it is expected that up to 300 flight attendants and pilots will have their home base in Dusseldorf.

The gradual establishment of a crew base is another crucial step for NIKI on the way to becoming Germany’s number one holiday carrier.

For NIKI, Dusseldorf is the most important airport in Germany. In future, the maintenance of the NIKI aircraft stationed there will be carried out by airberlin technik. This will guarantee quicker maintenance operations, which will also make the operative processes considerably more efficient. This will allow NIKI to react more flexibly to problems in day-to-day flight operations and help the airline to get its guests to their destinations punctually and comfortably.

NIKI’s CEO, Oliver Lackmann, on the positive development: ‘We are delighted to announce that we will be establishing our own base at Dusseldorf. The major city on the river Rhine is at the heart of the Rhine-Ruhr industrial region, which makes it a significant market for NIKI with a great deal of potential. As of now, NIKI is already the third-largest airline at Dusseldorf Airport’.

'NIKI has seamlessly taken over airberlin's warm weather tourist destinations in Dusseldorf. These services therefore remain an attractive product for passengers here,' says Michael Hanné, Manging Director of Dusseldorf Airport.

NIKI flies several times a day non-stop from Dusseldorf to Palma de Mallorca, the second NIKI hub in Spain. Furthermore, there are several NIKI flights each week to the most beautiful sunny destinations in Spain: Malaga, Alicante, and Ibiza. As of summer 2017, the airline will also offer regular connections from Dusseldorf to Faro on the Algarve, as well as Funchal on Madeira, and traditional Greek holiday islands, such as Rhodes, Heraklion, Cos, and Samos. You can also fly direct with NIKI from Dusseldorf to the Canary Islands Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and La Palma.
