New Director of Fleet for German Airways: Luc van den Avyle joins the team of Germany's second oldest airline
Cologne/Bonn, October 9, 2023. German Airways is getting a new Director of Fleet: Luc van den Avyle is joining the team of Germany's second oldest airline as of October 15, 2023. The experienced manager, studied aircraft engineer and trained helicopter pilot knows the industry very well: He worked for the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer for more than 20 years and can bring his knowledge and experience from the company to German Airways very well as the operator of an all Embraer fleet.
With nearly 40 years of experience in the aviation industry, Luc van den Avyle brings extensive expertise and an impressive track record. He was most recently Director of Business Development at component manufacturer Electric Power Systems, with responsibility for sales in the EMEA and Asia regions.
At Embraer, the manager was Key Account Manager Commercial Aviation until last spring, serving the manufacturer's civil aviation customers. Prior to that, he was the manager responsible for defense and public sector customers at Embraer for a long time. During his time as a helicopter pilot, the Belgian worked for the Belgian Air Force, American Helicopters and Bristow Academy. He also worked as an aircraft engineer for Delta Air Transport.
At German Airways, the 59-year-old's responsibilities will include management and contract controlling of technical suppliers, fleet development and lessor management, strategic development of the airline's own technical operations and technical asset management.
