Narrowbody Orders For Airbus In August
While deliveries are most important for Airbus’ financial results, the orders are important as well. In August, Airbus orders were sharply lower year-over-year. This can partly be attributed to IndiGo’s mega order that was finalized a year ago.
Orders
In August, Airbus received a total of 144 orders. All of the orders were for the Airbus A320ceo and neo series. Striking is that Airbus was unable to secure any orders for its widebody product in August.
A summary of Airbus in August:
- An undisclosed customer ordered a total of 20 Airbus A320 aircraft: 11 current engine option and 9 of the new engine option variant
- Tunisair ordered five Airbus A320neo aircraft
- Avianca ordered 1 Airbus A321neo
- BOC Aviation ordered five Airbus A321ceo airframes
- AirAsia finalized an earlier order announcement made at the Farnborough International Airshow for 100 Airbus A321neo airframes
- A second undisclosed customer ordered three A320ceo airframes
Deliveries
In August, Airbus delivered a total of 61 airframes. This is slightly below the average required number of deliveries to meet the full year target, but we are not seeing any signs of Airbus missing its delivery target.
