MONTE is excited to announce that it has signed an agreement with flybig, a regional airline in India, to provide financing and leasing solutions for the conversion of flybig’s fleet to zero emission propulsion technologies. Flybig are the first operator in India to sign such a partnership as they look to reduce emissions from their operations and transition to a zero emission aircraft fleet. In addition, MONTE will lease two DHC-6-400 aircraft to flybig, which will be deployed on RCS-UDAN routes in the northern Indian states of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

Flybig is a regional airline in India that operates point to point services to regional cities in India through its fleet of DHC-6-400 and ATR aircraft. Flybig has recently launched a #GoGreen initiative as they seek to reduce their fleet’s carbon footprint and support the decarbonisation of air transportation in India. We are delighted to work with the team at flybig as we continue to support the transition of the regional aviation industry to net zero!

Speaking on the partnership, Mr. Timothy Eyre, Investment Director of MONTE said, “MONTE is pleased to announce an agreement with flybig to explore the conversion of its fleet to zero emission propulsion technologies (electric / hybrid / hydrogen propulsion). MONTE will not only assist flybig to identify the most suitable zero emission propulsion technology for their operations, but will also offer financing for the conversion of its fleet once this technology is approved and certified.”

Announcing the #GoGreen initiative of flybig, its CMD Mr. Saanjay Mandavia said, “We are committed towards a zero emission fleet and to reduce carbon emissions in air transportation in India.  Signing an agreement with MONTE is a crucial step in shrinking our fleet’s carbon footprint.” “This initiative will not only revolutionize air travel in India, but also reduce the cost of flying with flybig,” he added.
