Mandarin Airlines ushers in a new era of low-emission connectivity

Mandarin Airlines today took delivery of its first ATR 72-600 equipped with PW127XT engines, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Taiwanese regional air travel. 

This milestone delivery follows the airline’s order of six ATR 72-600 at the Paris Air Show earlier this year, reinforcing its commitment to providing efficient and low-emission air transport solutions.

Bringing a 20% reduction in maintenance costs and at least 3% block fuel savings, the PW127XT engines set new standards for fuel consumption, carbon and NOx emissions, as well as operating economics for regional aviation. In line with Mandarin Airlines’ commitment to low-emission air travel, the first leg of the aircraft’s ferry flight from the ATR delivery centre in Toulouse to Taipei will incorporate a 30% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blend in the engines, already certified for up to 50% SAF operations.

Building upon their existing fleet of nine ATR 72-600, Mandarin Airlines has solidified its position as a key player in the Taiwanese market. With their main base located at Taipei Songshan Airport, Mandarin Airlines serves a domestic network and provides essential connectivity to eight destinations, including the enchanting islands of Kinmen, Magong, and Matsu. Additionally, the airline operates regional flights to various destinations across Asia and China.

The introduction of this new batch of ATR 72-600 aircraft will not only enhance Mandarin Airlines’ operational capabilities but also bring additional capacity to existing routes.
