Mombasa in Kenya, Phuket in Thailand and Mauritius are the three new charter destinations to which LOT Polish Airlines will fly this winter season. This is the result of a two-year contract which LOT signed with TUI.
Under the contract, the Polish carrier will make aircraft and crew available for servicing selected tourist destinations. The contract will apply in the winter seasons 2018/19 and 2019/20. The winter season will start at the end of October this year and will last until March 2019. Flights will be once a week.
“We are very pleased with this business agreement, which gives us two years cooperation with TUI Polska. This is our first ever contract with this tour operator”, said Konrad Majszyk, PR representative in LOT’s Corporate Communication Office.
All the planned charter operations for TUI in the 2017/2018 winter schedule will be carried out using the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft with capacity for 252 passengers in three classes: business, premium economy and economy.
The longest flight will be to Mauritius - more than 12 hours. The flight to Phuket will take just over 11 hours. The shortest flight time will be just over 9 hours to Mombasa, Kenya. This will be LOT’s first ever arrival at Phuket, the largest of the Thai islands. In fact, a Polish carrier has never before been to Phuket. The carrier has already flown charter flights in previous years to Mombasa and Mauritius.
In March this year the carrier will take delivery of the first of the three Dreamliners ordered in the larger 787-9 version, each of which will have 294 seats in three classes of travel. They will enable the Polish carrier to develop further long-haul destinations. In particular, a new LOT aircraft will fly the most coveted routes for the carrier: to Chicago and New York.
Currently, as part of a cooperation with operator Rainbow Tours, LOT flies charter flights to Panama, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Cancun in Mexico, Varadero in Cuba, Saigon in Vietnam and Bangkok in Thailand in the winter season 2017/18.
