Jetstar Japan president Yu Kataoka is considering the acquisition of the A321neo to help carry more passengers, lower its operating costs, and maximize efficiency as a result of slot constraints.

The carrier currently operates 22 A320s, with two more due by 2018 end, and four more in 2019.

Mr. Kataoka said the entry barrier was low for the new aircraft, as it already operates within the Jetstar Group.
