JetSMART acquires Argentina's Alas del Sur

JetSMART has reportedly acquired Cordoba-based low-cost carrier, Alas del Sur, granting the Indigo Partners-backed Chilean airline access to the Argentine market.

Alas del Sur, founded by Damian Toscano and partners, announced its intention to launch operations in December 2016, with planned routes from Cordoba to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Porto Alegre, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Lima, Asuncion and Santiago de Chile, Los Angeles, Rome, Barcelona, and Shanghai, however the carrier has never flown a single flight since the announcement.

Alas planned to fly a fleet of A320s and B777s, from 1Q 2017 but the launch was delayed to an unknown date.
