Icelandair today announced the newest addition to their route network, Berlin, Germany. Year-round service from Berlin-Tegel Airport (TXL) will commence on November 3, 2017, with three flights a week (Mondays, Fridays and Sundays). The plan is to further expand flights to Berlin in the summer of 2018.
“Berlin is our 4th gateway in Germany, and establishes our commitment to strengthen our transatlantic route network by providing passengers with more convenient connections between Europe and North America. Berlin, the largest city in Germany, has rich history, diverse culture, and vibrant nightlife, which we look forward to sharing with our passengers,” said Birkir Holm Gudnason, CEO of Icelandair.
Icelandair, in operation since 1937, has a long, illustrious history of bridging North America and mainland Europe through Iceland. The airline has helped boost tourism to its home country in record numbers and in bolstering Iceland as one of Europe’s hottest destinations.
Today, Icelandair continues to grow by adding new aircraft to its modern fleet, more destinations and popular amenities including personal in-flight entertainment and gate-to-gate Wi-Fi access.
With today’s addition, Icelandair serves 30 destinations in Europe and 18 in North America.
