Iberia Maintenance strengthens its commercial strategy in its new organisation

  • Andy Best, Iberia Chief Technical Officer, has appointed Paul Horstink as Commercial and Business Development Director
  • The future of Iberia's maintenance business will be consolidated on two pillars -Aircraft Services and Engine Services - with sustainability, innovation and high quality training as areas of focus.

This year, Iberia Maintenance faces the objective of gaining greater international projection of its business in all markets and, to achieve this, it has revamped its organisation, placing renewed emphasis on its commercial approach.

Andy Best, Chief Technical Officer, will be responsible for implementing this development strategy while maintaining the focus on Iberia Maintenance's main values: fly safe, fly on time, fly low cost and continous improvement. Best stated "I look forward with confidence that under this Leadership team, supported by all our fantastic employees, we will ensure Iberia MRO delivers on its commitments to Iberia, IAG group and wider customers ensuring we are here for them now and into the future.”

Paul Horstink is the new Commercial and Business Development Director, whose priority will be to continue to develop and innovate the business to provide the best support to Iberia Maintenance customers with the highest standards of safety, quality, on time delivery and competitiveness.

Paul joined Iberia Maintenance in 2016 as Airframe director obtaining significant improvements in Quality, Turn Around Time, Financial performance and productivity. He has an extensive experience of 25 years in the aviation industry leading and implementing complex changes with focus on commercial, process and operational improvements. Previously he held various senior management positions world wide in airlines and MRO organisations, such as Senior Vice President for Component Services at SR Technics, Executive Vice President at Thomas Cook Group Maintenance Organization (GMO), Vice President Airframe Services at Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT), Technical director Martinair and various positions within KLM E&M driving continuous improvements, successful goal achievements and new strategies implementations.

Focus areas: sustainaibilty, innovation and high quality training

In this new stage, Andy Best will work on the future positioning of Iberia Maintenance business over two pillars: Aircraft Services and Engine Services, with the aim of offering their customers a differentiated, innovative and high quality service, as their cornerstone and ultimate goal.

Sustainability, innovation and high quality training will be among the areas of focus.

Iberia Maintenance is committed to renewable energy and this year is going to install solar panels on its 20,000 sq. m engine workshop which will generate 80 million KW/h to supply hangars, workshops and offices. They have introduced electric vehicles such as mototok and innovative solutions for digitalization and paperless workplace with the recent agreement with Ramco for its new MRO business wide ERP solution.

MRO is a technology driven sector, a key industry in Spain and Iberia Maintenance facilities and equipments are a reference in Southern Europe. In addition, they are making a strong commitment to innovate in all processes with the instroduction of bots, drones, AR, voice activation, etc.).

Iberia Maintenance will also drive an ambitious training plan that will increase the qualification of maintenance technicians, and improve the positioning of Iberia Maintenance as a benchmark for training both, structures and future aircraft engine models.
